Admission criteria

1. Membership is open to professional coaches, mentors and counsellors who can demonstrate that they meet the following criteria. Proof of eligibility must be submitted in full and in writing – it must be clearly verifiable and must not require any additional research by the GAMC.

Required:

• Proof of relevant professional experience in advisory or support roles

Professional qualifications (one of the following options)

Option A – Coaching training:

• Completed coaching training with at least 120 hours of classroom instruction or 20 working days
• Proof of structure and course content
  

Option B – Methods/consulting training:

• Completed training with at least 180 hours of classroom attendance
• Overview of content and methodology required 

2. Leadership personality

• At least 5 years of management experience with direct responsibility for personnel
• Evidence: CV, educational qualifications, employment references
• 3 verifiable references
• Confirmation from employer of practical coaching or consulting experience

Educational institutions can become members if they offer training and further education in the field of coaching or mentoring and continuously develop their programmes in a professional manner.

Membership of professional or trade associations is possible if the association represents recognised quality standards in coaching or mentoring, has been active for at least three years and pursues a transparent code of ethics or professional conduct.
